Bruce R. McVety
County Extension Director
Bruce McVety was raised in rural Michigan, where he was active in 4-H and FFA. For the past 25 years, he and his wife have lived in Bureau County, Illinois. He holds a Masters Degree in Community Education Administration from Eastern Michigan University, and post-graduate work (ABD) in American History from Illinois State University. He has 16 years experience in law enforcement, has published articles on and has facilitated training programs in supervision/management, and community policing. In 1999 he was recognized as the Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the Illinois Attorney General. Bruce is a member of the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals and the Society for Organizational Learning. In April of 2009, Bruce received the Excellence in Community Development Programming Award from the National Association of Community Development Extension Professional. Currently Bruce is working toward a doctorate in Organization Development & Leadership at the University of Illinois.
Program OfferingsBruce is a facilitator for the Franklin Covey program 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. He is also available to speak to groups on community & leadership development, Transformational Leadership, violence prevention, children & women's safety, and community policing issues.
