Emergency Procedures
EMERGENCY SHOW PROCEDURES
PLEASE READ!
MAJOR ACCIDENT OR INJURY
1. Major accidents or injuries will be reported to the show office and Extension Staff.
2. Extension Staff or other designate will determine if outside help is needed and assign someone to call for an ambulance. There is a phone in the speed office and the Fairgrounds office.
3. Staff or other designate will stay with the injured person and perform first aid as needed and qualified to do so. A first aid kit is in the show office, a designate may be appointed to retrieve it.
4. Show Chairperson or other designate will determine who is to go to the fairground entrance to direct the ambulance to the emergency site.
5. After emergency situation has occurred and been handled, the Show Chairperson, Extension Staff, or other designate will gather effected 4-H members and update the situation and relieve anxieties.
MISSING PERSON
1. Missing persons will be reported to the 4-H Show Office or Extension Staff immediately.
2. Announcements regarding the missing person will be announced at each event.
3. If the missing person does not show up, Extension Staff or 4-H Volunteers will gather facts on missing person; i.e. recent activities, location last seen, clothing description, special medical problems of missing person, etc.
4. Extension Staff or designated others will direct a preliminary search of the grounds. The search will begin where the missing person was last seen.
5. If preliminary search fails, the Extension Staff or 4-H volunteer will call Police, 364-3933
6. If Extension Staff is not present, they will be contacted by 4-H volunteers and briefed of the situation.
7. Extension Staff, Middle Management 4-H volunteer(s) or other designate will be the only person responsible for notifing parents of missing person.
8. The 4-H Show Office (speed office) will be the headquarters for the search.
MAJOR FIRE
1. All incidents of fire need to be reported to the show office and Extension Staff.
2. The 4-H Superintendents will see that the building or area is evacuated. Everyone in the area and/or building of the fire must be evacuated to the center field of the race track.
3. The 4-H Superintendent will designate someone to the call the Fire Department, 364-3933
TORNADO WARNING
1. The Extension Staff &4-H Volunteers will be notified of tornado warnings, if sirens have not been sounded.
2. The police will come to the fairgrounds to assist with evacuation.
Peak Time (large number of people)
3. The police will stop traffic on Route 29. Extension Staff and Superintendents will evacuate everyone on the fairgrounds to the Henry-Senachwine High School.
Down Time (small number of people)
4. Extension Staff and Volunteers will move everyone on the fairgrounds to the restrooms.
5. The Staff, Volunteers or other designate will take an initial head count, if possible.
6. The Staff, Volunteers or other designate will make a decision when it is safe enough to return to other activities.
