CLOVERBUD PROJECTS

FOR 4-H SHOW

SUPERINTENDENT - Diane Gensler (1995), Toluca, 309/399-7651

1. Must be 5 - 8-years old by September 1 of current 4-H year.

2. Cloverbud should exhibit/register for the same project in which they enrolled.

3. Cloverbud member must be present to exhibit Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Commercial building.

4. Award will be based on participation and will not receive a Blue, Red or White rating or premium money.

Choose only one project.

1. WATCHING MY GARDEN GROW - Exhibit a plant from your window garden.

2. CARING FOR MY PET - Make a 11 x 17 poster showing a picture of you and your pet. Using pictures cut out of magazines, a story or photograph, showing us examples of equipment you need to care for your pet and how you help your pet stay healthy.

3. VISUAL ARTS - Use the 4-H Showbook Visual Arts department for guide. Display only one artwork. Need not be original.

4. KIDS IN THE KITCHEN - On an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper show examples of five (5) kitchen safety practices you learned from this project. They may be pictures from magazines, newspapers or pictures taken at your home with the family camera. Bring one of the recipes in your manual: Ants on a Log OR Peanut butter balls OR Marshmallow Puffs.

5. PICTURE THIS - Display a photo you have taken with any camera. Photo should be mounted or framed.

6. PRE-FLIGHT - Aerospace- Make a rocket out of food. On a poster draw your rocket and name the body parts. OR Make helmet out of a milk jug. With a large pair of gloves and your helmet demonstrate how astronauts pick up objects or perform simple tasks.

7. BUILDING FAMILY STRENGTHS - Make a time capsule and tell why you put the things you picked in it. OR Make a poster of your family tree.

8. CHILD DEVELOPMENT I - Exhibit a Choke Tube Toy Tester with examples of safe toys and unsafe toys OR complete a Home Hazard Hunt, list the hazards, the room they are in and how to correct the hazard.

9. EMBRYOLOGY - Make a poster showing the parts of an egg OR a chart showing how the egg develops to hatching.

10. GIFTS OF GOLD - Make a picture out of corn OR grow a couple of kernels of corn in a pot.

11. THEATER ARTS I - Display a puppet you made.

12. HEALTH I, IT's YOUR CHOICE - Chose and activity from the Health: Exploring Your Body 4-H manual. Exhibit a display or product from the activity that you chose. For example: Ways to protect yourself from getting sick. Make a first aid kit, How are you unique, Fitness, etc.

13. BICYCLE - Exhibit a display about bike safety. It can be about road signs, turn signals, safety equipment or proper bike size and driving.

14. READING - Read 3 books. Draw a picture about one of the books. Bring all three books to the 4-H Show OR Write a reading log with the Title, Author and number of pages.
