State Fair - Any 4-H'er, 10 years of age by September 1 of current 4-H year or over may enter. All classes marked with asterisk (*) are eligible, with the condition that model rocket is in good flying condition.
GENERAL AEROSPACE RULES
1. All entries in the Model Rocket categories will be judged by the Danish or group system.
2. Each entrant will be allowed one entry in numbers 1950-1954 appropriate to project in which he or she is enrolled. Members may exhibit 1955 in addition to their exhibit in 1950-1954.
3. An optional check-in time will be Tuesday, 4 to 6 p.m. This will enable 4-Hers to have their project on display throughout the 4-H Show.
4. All exhibits must be checked in by 9:00 a.m., Thursday, prior to judging. Judging times will be assigned at check-in.
5. All rockets should be presented on a launch pad, display will be without engines, electrical current, or launch controllers.
6. Member should bring the printed directions for construction of the exhibit to their judging time on Thursday.
7. All exhibits in this department will be interview judged. 4-Her must be present for interview to be considered for ribbons, premiums, awards and/or State Fair honors.
8. Members wishing to launch rockets will need to bring the proper equipment to launch the rocket including engines, electrical current, launch controllers, launch pad etc.
9. The Rocket Launch will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. See Rocket Launch section, also.
10. For State Fair eligibility table top displays should fit into an area no larger than 2' wide x 15" deep. Posters should be no larger than 22" x 30".

MODEL ROCKETRY- First & Second Year - Display one (1) model rocket (assembled by the member), ready to launch, with pad - electrical current, engine and launch controller should not be present. The rocket should be in good flying condition. Rocket kit should be a level one or two in modeling skill. Modelers are strongly encouraged to select rocket kits with wooden fins (not plastic) as well as kits which require the construction of an engine mounting system. Exhibit must include printed instructions for construction of the rocket. Rockets can be no larger than 3' x 3' when placed upright.

MODEL ROCKETRY- Three or more years- Exhibit one (1) model rocket (assembled by the member), ready to launch with pad -electrical current, engine and launch controller should not be present. Rocket kit should be a level three or higher in modeling skill. The rocket should be in good flying condition. On a 4" x 6" card, explain improvements made over last year's model. All rocket kits should have wooden fins. Exhibitors should sand leading edge of all fins. Exhibit must include printed instructions for construction of the rocket. Rockets can be no larger than 3' x 3' when upright.

KITES- Beginning- Exhibit one hand made beginning level kite, such as a diamond kite. The kite should be in good flying condition. Exhibit must include list of materials and printed instructions for construction of the kite. No kits allowed.
1953
KITES- Advanced- Exhibit one hand made advanced level kite, such as a box kite. The kite should be in good flying condition. Exhibit must include list of materials & printed instructions for construction of the kite. No kits allowed.
1954
MODEL AIRCRAFT - All levels- Exhibit one model aircraft in good flying condition constructed by the member. The exhibit will be a static display. This exhibit class is for flying models only. Exhibit must include printed directions for the construction of airplane.

AEROSPACE DISPLAY- All levels- Any exhibit relating to aerospace. Exhibit must include an experimental or educational poster or report to support the display. Exhibit may not exceed 3' by 3' to qualify for Illinois State Fair. Some examples could include: 1. Display one (1) model rocket based upon the research of an existing design (i.e. the Jupiter, Mercury, or Apollo rockets or even fictional rockets in movies, TV, or books) 2. Design and build rockets from scratch or scrap parts 3. Non flying model airplane 4. Hot air balloon 5. You are only limited by your imagination

CLOVER CHALLENGE: AEROSPACE - This class is limited to 15 to 18 year olds who are enrolled in Clover Challenge for this project area. Exhibit a display illustration the Clover Challenge area explored. This could include anything NOT covered in the project books, including but not limited to career exploration, etc.. The completed Illinois 4-H Clover Challenge Agreement must be presented with the exhibit.
ROCKET LAUNCH
All exhibitors enrolled in any of the rocketry classes may launch at least one (1) rocket at 5:00 p.m., Thursday. Exhibitor must register to launch a single rocket on the day of judging. Exhibitor is responsible for supplying his or her equipment to launch. Parents are asked to assist younger members. Exhibitor may launch rocket exhibited or bring a spare. Rockets selected for State Fair are encouraged not to launch at this time.
