State Fair - Any 4-H'er, 10 years of age by September 1 of current 4-H year or over may enter.

GENERAL SWINE RULES

1. Each exhibitor must check in health papers to Swine Superintendent prior to unloading. This is not a terminal show (health papers are required).

2. Each exhibitor is limited to one entry in the purebred litter class and each weight class of pair of barrows and pair of gilts.

3. Each exhibitor may have two entries in single gilt, boar, and each weight class of single barrows.

4. Purebred classes will be shown if enough animals are entered.

5. Animals shown in the purebred classes and market litter must be ear marked. Animals shown in the purebred classes may not be shown in the market litter classes.

6. Single barrows will be shown beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, in lightweight, medium weight, medium-heavy weight and heavy-weight classes. Classes to be determined following weigh-in time by the Swine Superintendents. All barrow animals will be weighed Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. All exhibitors of swine market animals will be responsible for helping with weigh-in of their exhibits at the appointed time. Exhibitor will announce his/her pair of barrows at the scale.

7. Crossbred gilts may be born January 1 or after. Classes will be determined by weight. Weigh-in will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. with barrow weigh-in (see rule 6). Exhibitor will announce his/her pair at the scales.

8. Litter registrations are acceptable for this show provided the Breed Association registers the litter and all pigs in the litter are ear notched. Members desiring to show at the State Fair are reminded that swine must be registered in the exhibitor's name only.

9. Grand Champion Purebred Gilt will be chosen. Grand Champion Crossbred Gilt will be chosen.

10. Grand Champion Barrow and Grand Champion Pair of Barrows will be chosen. Reserve Grand Champion Barrow and Reserve Grand Champion Pair of Barrows will be chosen.

11. Grand Champion Boar will be chosen.

12. Grand Champion Purebred litter will be chosen.

13. Grand Champion Purebred Pair of Gilts will be chosen. Grand Champion Crossbred Pair of Gilts will be chosen.

Barrow Show

1. All barrows, purebred and crossbred, will be shown together. Must be farrowed after January 15, of current year.

2. Superintendents will decide the number of weight classes.

3. Enter each class as many times as you plan on showing in it up to the maximum allowed. Remember your swine must have no more than two (2) entries per weight break.

Breeding Class

Age Classification:

Purebred Spring Litter - Farrowed after February 1, of current year. A litter will consist of three animals farrowed by one sow. Litter should include 3 breeding animals in any combination. All breeding animals must be registered in the exhibitor's name or in a partnership name providing the partnership agreement accompanies such papers.

Purebred Spring Boar - Farrowed after February 1, of current year.

Age Classification

January Gilt - Born 01/01 - 01/31 of present year

February Gilt - Born 02/01 - 02/28-29 of present year

March Gilt - Born 03/01 - 03/31 of present year

Spring Boar - 02/01 and after of current year

Spring Litter - 02/01 and after of current year

Classes will be divided by weight. 4-Hers may have a maximum of 2 entries per weight class. Register for class appropriate number of times.

506 PAIR OF BARROWS (Max. 3)

Classes will be divided by weight. 4-Her may have a maximum of 2 entries per weight class. Register for class appropriate number of times.

MARKET LITTER

568 Market Litter of Pigs farrowed after January 15, of current year. Property of

the exhibitor. Sow bred to a purebred boar or hybrid boar. Sow may be grade.

Three gilts and barrows in any combination, farrowed by one sow, will comprise a

Market Litter exhibit. Sow must be owned by exhibitor at time of farrowing.

Must be ear notched. Superintendent will decide the number of classes needed.

CROSSBRED AND GRADE - Will be weighed with barrows

569 Crossbred and Grade Gilt farrowed after 1/1 of current year.

570 Crossbred Pair of Gilts farrowed after 1/1 of current year. Pairs will be

determined by weight.

SHOWMANSHIP Non-Premium Class

No Boars allowed in Showmanship Class

572 JR. Open to any exhibitor in the Swine Department under 13 years of age, except previous Junior Swine Showmanship winners.

573 SR. Open to any exhibitor in the Swine Department, 13 years of age or over or previous Junior Showmanship winners.
