4-H Exhibit Rules
All Departments (Including Cloverbuds)
1. This show is open to any enrolled 4-H club member in Marshall-Putnam Counties who has met the necessary deadlines, been active in their 4-H Club during the current year and enrolled in the project(s) exhibiting.
2. All 4-H Show Registrations must be to the Extension Office by July 1, of exhibit year. Entries must be sent to the Extension office by this date to be eligible for show premiums, awards and State Fair honors. All projects must be registered to exhibit at the 4-H Show. Projects not registered will be awarded a participation ribbon and are not eligible for awards, State Fair or premiums.
3. Exhibits must be set up on time according to the 4-H Schedule or they will receive a lower rating.
4. Articles/projects must be made during the current 4-H year to be eligible for 4-H Show.
5. 4-Hers must exhibit their own project and be conference judged at the appropriate time to be considered for ribbons, premiums, trophies and State Fair Honors.
6. All livestock unowned by 4-H'ers must have records on the animal and a copy of a lease agreement between the 4-H'er and owner of the livestock shown.
7. All purebred animals must be accompanied by registration papers in the exhibitor's name or in a partnership name, provided the partnership agreement accompanies such paper. Date on registration paper will be taken as evidence of ownership. Registration paper must be available upon request of superintendent(s) or judge(s).
8. If there is a challenge or inquiry about registration papers or leases, evidence of registration and other papers (where required) must be presented to the County Extension Office on or before September 1, of current year or awards will be forfeited. (This rule applies only to any papers pending at the time of the show).
9. Health papers, as indicated in each division, must accompany each entry of animals. Health paper must be filled out by a veterinarian prior to the 4-H Show. Health papers will be checked in according to the following schedule:
Poultry Tuesday 8:00 a.m. Superintendent
Goats Tuesday 8:00 p.m. Superintendent
Sheep Tuesday 8:00 p.m. Superintendent
Dairy Tuesday 8:00 p.m. Superintendent
Swine Tuesday before unloading Superintendent
Beef Tuesday 8:00 p.m. Superintendent
Horse (Cogins test) before unloading Superintendent
Dog Care (rabies test) at check in Superintendent
All health papers must be picked up at 4-H Fair Office on Thursday.
10. Each exhibitor must provide bedding, feed and feeding equipment. NO paper bedding on fairgrounds. NO straw bedding for swine pens.
11. No nurse cows, unless entered in classes 122, 129, 136, 143, 150.
12. Hanging caged fans will be the only type of fans allowed in the livestock barns.
13. Livestock Classes will be judged by order of class number.
14. 4-Hers will be responsible for clean up of the horse stalls, hog pens and poultry cages they use. Clean up before the 4-H Show is optional. Clean up after the 4-H Show is required.
A. Sheep, beef and dairy stalls will be cleaned up using a tractor by the Marshall-Putnam Fairboard.
B. Poultry & rabbit cages must be moved to the southwest corner of the Poultry building by the 4-Hers.
15. All livestock projects (except market hogs) will be released at 2:00 p.m., Thursday. Any violation of this ruling, except by special permission of the superintendent, will result in the forfeiture of awards.
16. General projects which are exhibited in the Art Hall and Commercial Building will be released after the Evening Show. Any violation of this ruling, except by special permission of the superintendent, will result in the forfeiture of awards.
17. ALL CLASSES, unless otherwise indicated will be placed by the Danish System (Blue, Red, White). All livestock placing will be made by the American System (1, 2, 3, etc.). Ribbons and Premiums however, will be given using the Danish System (A, B, C, etc.).
18. Anyone having a protest may register the same by contacting a Department Superintendent. In all cases of disagreement when a protest has been lodged, the 4-H Association will make the final decision. A protest must be lodged the day of the showing to be valid. An Incident Report must be completed and signed by the 4-Her, Superintendent and a witness or reviewer. Incident reports are available at the Extension office, or during the 4-H Show they are in the 4-H office on the fairgrounds.
19. Only 4-H members who have livestock projects at the Show will be allowed to stay overnight at the fairgrounds. Members must be accompanied by a chaperon over 21-years old; must complete the Overnight Permission Form, and return it to the Extension office by July 1. Anyone found abusing this privilege will be immediately sent home and subject to forfeit.
20. Chaperons must have a complete volunteer file at the Extension Office by July 1, of current year.
21. Campers, trailers, etc., that require electrical hook-ups must pay $20 per night payable to M-P Fairgrounds. When entering the fairgrounds, campers should go to the 4-H Office to pay their camping fees and receive a camping sticker. Superintendents and 4-H Leaders are exempt from camper fees (they still need a camping sticker in the window of the camper).
22. No dogs or any pets are allowed. Only animals to be exhibited are allowed on the fairgrounds.
23. No alcoholic beverages or other controlled substances are permitted on the fairgrounds.
24. No fireworks are permitted on the fairgrounds at any time.
25. No horseback riding will be permitted on the fairgrounds except in the horse arena and horse barn area.
26. All persons are expected to conduct themselves in an acceptable manner. Unacceptable behavior includes abusive language, physical force, or any actions causing damage to property on the fairgrounds. See 4-H Behavior Guidelines and Code of Conduct for complete list.
27. Only 4-H Superintendents and Fair Board members are allowed to drive the fair grounds tractor.
28. All Livestock Exhibitors have the option to include their Premise ID number(s) on their registration form. To get a Premise ID number go to http://www.agr.state.il.us/premiseid/
