EFNEP 35th Anniversary Celebration!
On Friday, July 9, 2004, the staff and friends of University of Illinois Extension joined us in celebrating an Open House and 35th EFNEP Anniversary Celebration. Our Urban Extension Office and Training Center in East St. Louis is committed to outreach and excellence. It was our goal to display this commitment during our open house. Several exhibits were strategically placed around the office for visitors to enjoy. Because of the time of year, we declared a patriotic theme for the day. The theme was our Declaration of Independence from unhealthy eating that causes chronic diseases like obesity, hypertension, diabetes and heart disease. We managed to get some press coverage from the local newspaper and had the honor of presence from legislative representatives as well as many agency and organization supporters and Extension Administrators. In addition, Jackie Joyner Kersee, our 35th Anniversary National Celebration Spokesman and local celebrity, was featured on our video with the same critical message about the importance of healthy eating.
