In her role as Extension Educator, Jackson is responsible for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), Family Nutrition Program (FNP)and the Parent Readiness Education Program (PREP) in Southern Illinois and specifically in Madison and St. Clair Counties.
Jackson holds a master's degree in consumer economics from Iowa State University and a bachelor's degree in home economics education from Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia.
She is a member of the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Illinois Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, and Young Women Christian Association. She volunteers with United Way of Greater St. Louis on the allocations committee and also the community reinvestment initiative committee. In addition, she serves on the Healthy Start Consortium with Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation.
For almost 30 years, Linda has enjoyed working with families as they strive to improve their standard and levels of living. It is through education that people gain independence and start to make significant changes in life.
Each summer, her program staff is involved in working with youth in the metropolitan area. They are provided experiential opportunities to learn to cook, garden and other life skills. The programs have been funded by the City of East St. Louis as well as United Way over the past 6 years.
Jackson is available to work with agencies and organizations in areas of nutrition education, personality typing, money management, conflict resolution and other topics of interest to community.
