    In previous years, the University of Illinois Extension provided IRS Pub. 225, Farmer's Tax Guide. In 2005, the IRS stopped making their printed publications available for us to order. Consequently, the Macoupin County will no longer provide Pub. 225 or other IRS publications. The University of Illinois is selling a CD with 2005 IRS forms and publications for $7, and it will be available in early February, 2006. These CDs can be ordered from the U of I Tax School website ( www.ace.uiuc.edu/taxschool). People who request Pub. 225 can be encouraged to download the publication from the IRS or purchase our CD. All IRS forms and publications can be found at the IRS website: www.IRS.gov

    The number of farmers interested in sustainable and organic practices has been steadily growing. University of Illinois is part of a three-state effort with Michigan State University and Purdue University to pool their expertise on agroecology and organic practices at one readily accessible web site. The information is further enhanced through a partnership with experienced organic growers in the three states.

    Users can quickly locate, create, and print maps of large and small areas within Illinois in a few minutes. Numerous map layers may be added to the base map to give a better idea of a specific location's resources and other important attributes.

    Need to test your soil? Find your nearest soil testing lab along with valuable contact information. Please note that the Macoupin County Farm Bureau no longer offers soil testing services.
