4-H and Youth

4-H Clubs

4-H Clubs are a youth group of five or more members with officers, with a planned program of six or more meetings, developed and managed by Extension through paid staff and volunteers.

4-H members are youth in the third grade or eight years old by September 1 of the current year, and have not reached their 19th birthday by September 1 of the current year. Members must enroll in at least one project, attend their 4-H club's regular meetings and do one talk or demonstration.

Leaders are valued members of the University of Illinois Extension 4-H program staff. A volunteer is any staff member who gives time and expertise without being paid. Volunteers contribute their skills, talents and experience to strengthen all aspects of the program and support its mission.
