Remember when you were working you always kept the idea that one day you would be retired and take time for the family then. Well, things may not be as you would like at this point in time, but you can still keep the family first in your activities and your thoughts. If the money is tight, as it is in a lot of homes right now, start some new traditions that do not cost you anything. How about game night? Milton Bradley was big on that this past Holiday Season, wanting everyone to take a night out of the week and all members of the family promise to keep the date, and you have dinner together and play a board game or cards or checkers or whatever you are interested in. Watch a funny movie. There are a ton of things that you can do as a family that do not have to cost you a penny and still can be rewarding. Pop some corn, sit outside in the dark during the summer and visit with the neighbors. It protects your neighborhood and gets you reacquainted with those around you that you did not have time for when you were working. Plan cookouts with your family or friends but make it potluck. You have everyone provide dishes to take the pressure off you to make the gathering a hit. Remembering all those who you have worked FOR will pay off now. They will come running for your attention if you are ready and willing to share yourself with them.

If you look at life as a tent, do you know the importance of tent poles? When putting up the tent, the tent poles are hard to deal with, they are cumbersome and yet without them, there is no tent. The tent poles are there for support. They are the backbone of the tent. They are the foundation of the cover against the storm while camping. Tent poles are in your every day life as well. They are there propping you up when times are tough. Do you know who and what your tent poles are?
