There are so many people who have been in the same job, 20-25 years that are currently losing their employment. For those individuals, it is important to remember the job market is full of folks trying to find work and for you to stay on top of things is vital to your survival. Follow up on all applications that you send out to potential employers. It is not their job to find you...it is your job to showcase yourself. Remind them of who you are and what you are about and that you are looking for employment with their company. Do not make a nuisance of yourself but do remind them with follow up calls regarding your resume, your application and their timeline for hiring. Once a week is not too often if the company has not set a deadline. Follow through with plans that you have laid and goals that you are setting. If you make an appointment-keep it. If you have an activity planned or a goal set or even an idea that keeps popping up in your thoughts, whether it is starting your own business, going back to school, or relocating-follow through with it. Find out what is on the other side of that thought. And for many of you, this is the first time that you have been offered a fresh start at another career...ACT ON IT. Follow your heart. What is it that you always thought you would be good at doing? What do you like to do? What can you do better than others? Follow your heart to a new career.

If you look at life as a tent, do you know the importance of tent poles? When putting up the tent, the tent poles are hard to deal with, they are cumbersome and yet without them, there is no tent. The tent poles are there for support. They are the backbone of the tent. They are the foundation of the cover against the storm while camping. Tent poles are in your every day life as well. They are there propping you up when times are tough. Do you know who and what your tent poles are?
