The Macon Extension Unit wants to extend a heart felt thank you to all the people that worked on the 2006 Research Plot. This years Co-sponsor "Main Street Bank", the Jim Snow family, the seed representatives and their supporting companies; if not for the good works of these companies and the individuals that represent them this plot would not be possible. Thank you.
Macon Extension – Main Street Bank Research Plot. The plot was at the Jim Snow farm just south of Elwin. The Snows have been sponsoring the plot for over twenty seven years. The corn was planted on April 20 and the Soybeans were planted on May 9th. The Plot tour was held on August 22nd with over 125 individuals hearing comments from Dr. Darrell Good and Dennis Bowman, regarding the market outlook and the growing conditions throughout Illinois.
This years plot had only Roundup Ready Soybeans and for the first time "BT Single Stacked Corn Hybrids" were in the Plot providing farmers with an opportunity to compare rootworm corn hybrids. The Plots were harvested on September 25th about 15 days earlier than the past five years. The winner of the Corn plot was Hoblit546BTP and the Soybean Winner was Hoblit 387.
