Responsibilities
Every Master Gardener has the responsibility to:
Represent University of Illinois Extension and Macon County Office in a professional manner.
Be acquainted with office procedures and personnel.
Respect confidences and client information.
Remain calm and courteous at all times; to use tact and give constructive advice.
Know his/her limitations; to admit he/she can't provide everything to everyone and then to appropriately refer calls to educators.
Refer all commercial horticulture calls and herbicide injury calls to the horticulture educator, or unit leader.
Follow through on commitments.
Provide unbiased research based information from the University of Illinois, other land grant institutions or the United States Department of Agriculture.
Every Master Gardener has the right to:
Be treated as a staff member and part of University of Illinois Extension.
Be informed of the organization of Extension, its policies, people and programs and to be kept informed.
Be given suitable, worthwhile and realistic assignments.
Receive quality training and continual inservice to handle assignments fully.
Receive positive and constructive guidance and direction.
Receive recognition for his/her accomplishments.
Have a part in planning Master Gardener activities.
Be supplied with reference materials to perform assigned duties.
