Farm Progress Show

The Farm Progress Show will observe its 54th anniversary in Decatur, IL, on August 28, 29, and 30, 2007. This event is a service of Farm Progress Companies, which publishes nearly two dozen state-oriented agricultural magazines, including Prairie Farmer. Farm Progress Companies also sponsors other farm shows in the US. Typically, the Farm Progress Show has rotated among the states of Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana, but the event in Decatur in alternate years will become the show for Illinois and Indiana. Farm Progress plans to hold a show in Iowa in even-numbered years. Please visit the Farm Progress Show website at www.farmprogressshow.com.

On August 30, 2005, Decatur hosted the Farm Progress Show. The Farm Progress Show is known as the "Superbowl of Agriculture" or "The World's Fair of Agriculture." This event brings a quarter million people and the world of production agriculture to the Agribusiness Capital of the World.

The Farm Progress Show is composed of static displays and field demonstrations. The static displays are located in a variety of tents, buildings, and open air exhibits within the primary 80 acre exhibit field. They promote products and services offered by about 400 companies serving production agriculture. Most of these companies use the Farm Progress Show to introduce new products to their clientele.

Field demonstrations involve corn harvesting, stalk chopping, and tillage in a method that allows prospective equipment buyers to evaluate the performance of competing products side by side in actual field conditions.

Check the Farm Progress website for more information regarding the 2007 Farm Progress Show.
