U of I Extension Life Skills Evaluation System - Measuring growth in life skills for youth and family programs

  Why Evaluate?

General Principles:

The Life Skills Evaluation System is designed to:

  • Assess only the selected ten life skills.
  • Measure outcomes of programs with six or more contact hours with the same audience.
  • Assess participants who are 6th grade and above.
  • Accept data from the life skills outcome indicators listed on this Web site. [Use outcome indicators as written.]

For a successful evaluation, make sure that you:

  • Use the permission statement at the top of the evaluation form as it's written.
  • Administer the evaluation face-to-face at the end of your program.
  • Assess program participants only, not observers of participants, such as parents of youth who participated.
