Each year from April to September, volunteer Master Gardeners answer nearly 300 homeowner phone calls regarding everything from insect identification and control to proper planting of perennials; from landscaping to appropriate tree selection; and the list goes on. This volunteer service saves Lee County Extension $50,000 annually-the cost of keeping an individual with a masters degree in horticulture on staff full-time.
