Who We Are
The Master Gardener program is an all-volunteer organization found in all 50 states and three Canadian provinces. The program provides avid gardeners with many hours of extensive horticultural training. In return, participants volunteer through local extension offices by answering homeowner's horticulture questions, coordinating garden-based workshops and trainings, and fostering community relationships through school and community gardening projects.
Master Gardeners in Lee County
The Master Gardeners of Lee County are passionate about gardening and even more passionate about investing in their communities.
Master Gardeners in-training work the homeowner hotline answering questions related to vegetable and flower gardening, pest control, tree and shrub selection, and more. In 2008, the volunteers responded to nearly 300 phone calls and requests.
The Master Gardeners network with community garden clubs, other organizations and neighboring counties to provide educational opportunities for gardeners of all ages – amateur to "master".
In addition, Master Gardeners host two fundraising events - the annual Plant Sale and a Garden Party. Proceeds benefit the Lee County Extension, and the community benefits from two well-planned events meant to educate and entertain all.
