4-H Club Fair Responsibilities

A successful fair relies on everyone's help to set-up and clean-up, along with all the jobs that come up in between. The Lee County Fair Association and Lee County Extension thanks you in advance for making the 2009 fair a success!

NIGHT GUARDS

Night guards will be on the grounds from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m. Each of the following clubs should have two adults (18 years or older) on duty during the night. Guards may work in shifts, as long as there are adequate guards available at all times. Notify the Fair Office of the people on duty. All guards should sign in at the FAIR OFFICE before 10 p.m. If you can NOT work your assigned night, please make arrangements with another club to trade.

FAIR SET-UP & CLEAN-UP

Your help is needed to set-up and clean-up the fairgrounds, barns and exhibit areas before and after the 4-H fair. There will be no assigned areas for set-up or clean-up….just pitch in where needed. We are asking all clubs to send 3-5 workers and 2 adults to assist us. Fair set-up will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 20. Fair clean-up will be Sunday, July 26, after projects are released AND Monday, July 27, at 9 a.m. to get the grounds cleaned one final time.

We are assigning clubs for Monday morning clean-up. These clubs are the clubs who do not have the responsibility of sending night guards during the fair. If your club can't be at the fairgrounds on Monday morning, please switch with a club on night guard duty.

Thank you to the Wyoming Indians for volunteering to work both as Night Guards and Monday Clean-up.

2009 DAILY GROUNDS CLEAN-UP SCHEDULE

4-H clubs are assigned to help with a regular grounds clean-up schedule. A daily schedule was asked for so that the fairgrounds would look nice all throughout the fair. Clubs are asked to follow a couple simple guidelines:

  1. Report to the fair office for updated instructions, to check your club in, and to pick up trash bags.
  2. Approximately 5-10 club members will be needed for each area (plus supervising adults).
  3. See chart below for designated times to clean up for each day.

A clean fairgrounds promotes a positive image for Lee County 4-H.
