    If you do not have mapping software, but want to experiment with GIS, Google Earth is a GREAT free download. Many lessons are posted here; high school level.

  • Google Earth History links
    A searchable database of Google Earth resources for use in the history classroom. Google Earth is a fantastic tool which allows you to explore the globe from your home computer. You can whizz around the planet; zoom in and out of countries, towns and even streets; examine the terrain, add your own overlay maps and construct virtual "flyover" tours of selected locations. checkout "Google Earth Community" and Google Hacks" which give history resources.
