4-H Shooting Sports

4-H Enrollment Procedures for 2009-2010

  • All 4-H members who were enrolled in 4-H last year must be enrolled in 4-H and in at least one project by DECEMBER 1, 2009 to be eligible to show at the 4-H shows in 2010.
  • Members enrolling in animal projects must be enrolled in the project by December 1 and have animal(s) in possession by starting dates.
  • New 4-H members have until March 1, 2010, to enroll to be eligible to show at the 4-H Shows in 2010.
  • All members must be enrolled in projects (adding or deleting) by March 1, 2010 to be eligible to show at the 4-H shows in 2010.
  • 4-H project manuals will be ordered only 2 times this year; after December 1 and March 1. 4-H Leaders will be notified to pickup manuals at the Extension Office.
  • Most 4-H manuals are designed to be used for three years; members will be charged for extra or replacement books.

4-H Program Fee for 2009-2010 - Lawrence County

Beginning with enrollment of 4-H members in September, 2009, a $20 a year 4-H Program Fee will be applied to youth joining 4-H. This fee applies to community clubs, special interest groups, Cloverbud groups and after-school programs. The fee will be distributed with $6.00 per member forwarded on to the State 4-H Office for educational, technical and logistical support. Then, $14 will stay in the county and be used by the local program to help 4-H support costs.

No discount for multiple family members or a family maximum cost.

No child will be denied the opportunity to participate in 4-H due to the inability to pay the program fee. Confidential handling is in order to protect the privacy of the individual.

Extension Office Closed

Extension Office will be closed the following:

  • November 26 and 27—Thanksgiving Holiday
  • December 24—January 1—Christmas Holiday

4-H Members Must Attend 3 meetings!!!

The rule is:

A youth that is enrolls in a 4-H club/group must attend three (3) meetings, tours, workshop or other activities sponsored by their club/group before July 1, current 4-H year, to be eligible to take part in 4-H exhibitions, 4-H Auction, 4-H awards and recognitions and receive premiums. Only regular enrolled members of Lawrence County 4-H Clubs who enrolled by December 1, 2009, current 4-H year, are eligible to exhibit their projects. New 4-H members have until March 1, 2010 to enroll.

This means:

  • You must attend 3 of your CLUB meetings or events before July 1 to be eligible to show in the 2010 shows.
  • The 3 meetings must be sponsored by your club. County events and workdays do not count.
  • Club meeting dates must be turned in to the Extension Office by February 1, 2010.
  • No make-up meeting will count.
  • No meetings after July 1 will count.

Getting the most out of your 4-H Experience!

  • Take part in 4-H Club meetings.
  • Parents, you need to attend the club meetings to keep informed and to support your child(ren)'s involvement.
  • Read the 4-H Newsletters.

Illinois 4-H Jr Leadership Conference

February 20-21, 2010 is the date for the Illinois 4-H Jr Leadership Conference for 4-H members who are in the 7th or 8th grade. While learning new things to take back to your club, delegates also have a great time meeting other junior high 4-H members from across the state. Workshops, special activities, a speaker, and loads of fun will keep participants happy and motivated to go home and try all the things your will learn.   • Cost $55.00 if registered by January 15th, 2010(postmarks accepted)
  • $60.00 after January 15 until the January 22, 2010 deadline

Learn skills of investigating, exploring skills, examining personal traits, etc. This will be an interactive, fun-filled, overnight stay with hotel accommodations, food, and entertainment.

Things to consider:

  • 4 people to a room
  • 2 double beds (may bring sleeping bag if preferred
  • Bring appropriate clothing
  • May wish to bring swimming suit
  • Do not bring articles that may be easy to misplace.
  • Food included in the cost
