Child Development

Exhibits to be turned in to Exhibit Hall I

Between 8:30-9:30 a.m., Thursday, July 9th

Judging will start at 9:30 a.m.

All Child Development exhibits must fit into a space no larger than 2' wide 15" deep space.

Please Note: 2009 theme for display is:

Child Development I – Growing On My Own

Exhibit one of the activities from the Level I project manual Growing On Your Own.

Child Development II

Exhibit one of the following options developed by the member from the Level 2 project book, Growing with Others:

A. Include the following three items that would be appropriate for a child of a specific age selected by the 4-H'er:

1. A toy made by the 4-H'er

2. A song or game

3. A story or story book that would be appropriate for a child of a specific age. On a note card or page of paper, indicate the age of the child and how the items fit into the interests, abilities and safety considerations of that age child.

OR

Prepare a display of 6 toys and/or activities (one or more being made by the 4-Her). Include 2 items for each of the following 3 age groups:

1. Infant/Toddler

2. Pre-School

3. School Age

On a note card or page of paper, for each toy and activity, indicate the age of the child and how that item fits into their interests, abilities and safety considerations. You can use a specific theme for this project. (4-H is Our National Treasure theme)

Child Development III

Exhibit one or more the following items developed by the member from the Level 3 project book, Growing in Communities: a child care career game; a display representing a community service activity; a teaching plan for use in a child care setting (2-4 hour time span); OR a plan for neighborhood olympics activity. The member should provide a thorough explanation of their exhibit on a note card or paper. Display must fit into a 2' wide x 15" deep space.


LaSalle County Outstanding Child Care Project Award

This award is donated by the LaSalle County Home and Community Education Association

Health

All displays should fit into an area no larger than 2' wide x 15" deep. Posters should be no larger than 22" x 30."

Keeping Fit and Healthy I (First Aid in Action) Exhibit a family First Aid Kit and cards prepared by the exhibitor.

Keeping Fit and Healthy II (Staying Healthy) Exhibit a "smarts" project as explained in the project manual. Project should be designed/prepared by the exhibitor.

Keeping Fit and Healthy III (Keeping Fit) Exhibit a Fitness File OR make a display on credible information about supplements and performance enhancers.

Intergenerational

All displays should fit into an area no larger than 2' wide x 15" deep. Posters should be no larger than 22" x 30."

NOTE: There is no longer a club/group display opportunity in this project.

Walk In My Shoes - Individual - Exhibit display related to an activity in your project manual. Examples of things you might focus on in your display include: outcomes from the "Looking through someone else's eyes" activity, ideas on how to help older people with physical limitations, or establish an interactive display where people could complete the "butterfingers" activity. Be prepared to discuss this activity and the results of the activity.
