Sewing & Textiles I, II, & II, Clothing Decisions I & II
1. All Sewing & Textiles I, II, & III, Clothing Decisions I & II will be judged orally according to the following date:
All Clothing Projects, including accessories and posters, MUST be brought to the Extension Office ON or BEFORE 4:30 p.m., Friday, July 3rd. Conference Judging will be held on SUNDAY, July 5th beginning at 2:00p.m., at the Harding Community Center, Harding, Illinois.
The Style Revue will begin at 3:00 p.m. or immediately following the Conference Judging. All Clothing Project members Must particpate in the LaSalle County Style Revue.
All these exhibits must be judged at the Extension Unit building - NO EXCEPTIONS. If the exhibitor is unable to attend personally, the projects must be brought to the Extension Unit building by a parent, leader or other adult.
2. Exhibitors with garments need to complete and turn in the Style Revue description sheet at the time of oral judging. This description sheet should be complete and include a 2" swatch of material, and a photo of each project worn by exhibitor. Photo size is limited to 4" x 6". This sheet is read by the narrator during the Style Revue.
3. Exhibitors should take pattern, instruction sheet, completed project books and goal sheets to oral judging.
4. Parents and/or leaders may be also be present to hear the oral comments.
5. Following judging, all garments will be retained by Clothing Committee. The garments will be taken to the Harding Community Center on Sunday, July 5th for the Style Revue and later to the fairgrounds on Thursday, July 9th, for display.
6. Clear transparent bags, furnished by exhibitor are optional. County will not be responsible if garment and/or accessories are lost or stolen.
7. Ribbons will be presented and State Fair selection will be announced at the Style Revue. The decision as to whether the exhibitor will be able to attend the Illinois State Fair with the garment or article on LaSalle County Exhibit day will be required by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12th.
STYLE REVUE, SEWING & TEXTILES AND CLOTHING DECISIONS
In addition to above rules, completed project book and goal sheet are required at the time of judging on July 5th. Premiums will be paid on and ribbons will be presented on all that entered. To be eligible for the State Fair selection, 4-H'er must be 10 years of age by September 1, 2008 to qualify for Illinois State Fair. Members may exhibit one (1) item in each category in project area enrolled in:
Sewing & Textiles I –Exhibit any of the following:
1) Non clothing, constructed article (sew and/or serge) – one of the following items made by the member: 9-patch pillow or square pillow, a tote bag, shopping bag;
2) Constructed garment – a simple article of clothing;
Sewing & Textiles II - Exhibit any of the following:
1.) Non clothing - Any non-wearable item made by member;
2) Constructed garment - any garment with facings or curves.
Sewing & Textiles III - Exhibit any of the following:
1) Construction - Garment constructed by the member which is appropriate for age and experience of member. (Possible examples are: wool garment, polar fleece garment, dress or jacket with set-in sleeves and zipper and button holes, suits, evening wear or sport outfit.);
2) Recycled Garment - A modified/redesigned/recycled garment you purchased in the past and "salvaged" by significantly altering the original design.
Clothing Decisions I & II
Clothing Decisions I - Exhibit a display of one completed activity from the project book. Inclusion of an actual purchased item is optional. If purchased garment/item is exhibited, it will need to be worn for the judge and a photo (no larger than 4" x 6") of the exhibitor wearing the garment should be included in the exhibit.
Clothing Decisions II - Exhibit a display of one completed activity from the project book. Inclusion of an actual purchased item is optional. If purchased garment/item is exhibited, it will need to be worn for the judge and a photo (no larger than 4" x 6") of the exhibitor wearing the garment should be included in the exhibit.
