Purebred Beef Heifers Show Arena-

RULES

A. Read All General Rules for 4-H Show.

B. Other regulations are the same as Junior Fair refer to LaSalle County 4-H

Show General Rules.

C. Original registration papers must be turned in Thursday at check-in.

Copies will not be accepted.

D. Heifers from different breed associations are each considered a separate

breed. (Eligibility requirements to show are as follows: Red Poll - 15/16 &

higher; Simbrah - recorded; Gelbvieh - recorded; *% Simmental - 5/8 or less;

All Others - recorded).

E. Tie outs must be cleaned before cattle are released.

F. Cow & Calf Class - registration papers are required on all calves 2 months

and older.

G. Calf used in the cow/calf class may show in the senior calf class. You must enter it-male or female when entries arer due.

a Simmental registration certificate in order to complete in the low percentage

Simmental Show. *% Simmental - 5/8 or less; All Others - recorded.

RULES

A. Read all General Rules for 4-H Show.

B. Making Entry: Denote Market Beef and breed, Superintendent will determine class.

C. Other regulations same as Junior Fair.

D. Steers Must have been weighed-in, tattooed, on February 7, 2008.

E. The fastest gaining 4-H market beef (regardless of live placing) will be

paraded, in order of A.D.G., in the ring, and recognized prior to the selection

of the Grand Champion Market Beef animal. Fastest Gaining 4-H Beef

will receive a Rosette. Cash awards, provided by LaSalle County Livestock

Association, will be presented to top ten gaining steers of the show.

Showmanship

Showmanship will begin at 9:00AM on Saturday, July 11th.

The order will be: Senior, Intermediate, and Junior.

Ages are as follows:

Senior (14 years old & older)

Intermediate (11-13 years of age)

Junior ...... (8-10 years of age)

(Exhibitors need to show in their age group and sit out 1 year if exhibitor won previous year-exemption would be if exhibitor advances to the next age group because of age)

B. Each exhibitor will be limited to two entries in each class.

C. Entry Fee: $4.00 per head. Stall fee: $1.00 per animal.

D. Age classification:

Senior Calf-Calved between Sept. 1, 2007 to present.

Summer Yearling-Calved between May 1, and Aug. 31, past year.

Junior Yearling-Calved between Jan. 1 and April 30, past year.

Senior Yearling-Calved between July 1, 2007 and Dec. 31, 2006.

Cows-Calf-Cows any age. Calves born after January 1, present year.

E. Cow-Calf class: Cows will be shown with calf at side. Cows must be broke

to lead. Breed winners will compete for Champion Purebred Cow/Calf Trophy.

F. First and second place winners, except cow/calf, will show for the breed

champion and reserve champion.

G. Breed champions and reserve champions will show for Grand Champion

heifer and Reserve Grand Champion heifer.

H. Do not submit registration papers when making entries.

I. The Superintendent and Secretary will check health and registration papers

and legible tattoo of ALL Purebred Beef Heifers/Steers on Thursday at

weigh-in.

J. Registration papers will be required in all purebred classes and must show

ownership of the animals in the name of the exhibitor only (no partner-own

ership) for the period to coincide with the 4-H project. Effective dates for

ownership must appear on the registration papers. All heifers must have

been owned and personally cared for by exhibitor since June 1, present

year. Senior yearling and cows, January 1, present year.

K. Complications are subject to review and decision by the Beef Committee.

L. Breed Association registration number must be included on entry form.

Registration papers must be available during Junior Fair for inspection.

M. Superintendent may break classes if number of animals in class warrants.

N. Tieouts must be cleaned before cattle are released.

O. Original registration papers will be required on all calves 2 months

and older. Copies will not be accepted.
