Master Gardener Volunteers

Master Gardeners receive sixty hours of training from mid-January to the end of March. Once trained, these volunteers give time in a variety of ways, such as answering gardening questions through the information service or at area libraries. They also have an opportunity to give talks to groups requesting gardening presentations; to work with nursing home residents; or to assist on various planning committees. The Extension Horticulturist serves as support for this group of volunteers. Commitment includes successful completion of a twelve-week training program, a minimum of sixty hours of volunteer service the first year and a minimum of thirty hours each following year. Training occurs in even-numbered years. The 2006 classhas been completed. Applications for the 2008 class will be available in September of 2007.
