Knox County Soil Temperature
For nitrogen that is fall-applied without nitrification inhibitor, farmers should apply nitrogen in non-nitrate form after the sustained soil termperature at 4 inches is below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Fall application of nitrogen with inhibitors should be delayed until soil temperatures are no higher than 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
