Kick-Off Greets New 4-H Year
On Sunday, September 27 over 100 people enjoyed ice cream floats and learned about healthy snacks and good nutrition. Youth made and took home Indian Corn pins, fluffy sheep and pin wheels. Power of the Wind, Aerospace, Nutrition, Sewing, Animal Science projects, and many more were displayed for everyone who attended to enjoy.
Thanks to Kendall County Country Kids, Little Rockets, Outbacker Kids, Renegades, Rebels & Rogues, Three C's and Lisbon Town and Country 4-H clubs for having displays focusing on a variety of 4-H projects. Team building games were played outside on the lawn in the beautiful warm fall weather with 4-H Federation officers leading. Three C's 4-H club sponsored a rocket launch in the middle of the Kick-Off.
This was the ninth year for our annual kick-off and most of the Kendall 4-H clubs were represented by a member or leader. Thank you to all who helped to make our afternoon fun, successful and for staying to clean up.
Kick-Off Special Thanks

Winter Storm Resource Center
Snow and ice are just around the corner, and U of I Extension has a wonderful website to help cope with winter storms. It includes information about understanding storms, how to get around in snowstorms, and various health and safety issues. It is a wonderful place to go to find highway conditions and weather forecasts. Visit the site at: http://urbanext.illinois.edu/winter/ .
See spectacular displays as our trees and shrubs change colors. Visit The updated Miracle of Fall website at: http://urbanext.illinois.edu/fallcolor/ . Cook County Urban Horticulture and Environment Educator Ron Wolford developed the both websites.
We are pleased to launch a new Parenting Again website -- targeted for grandparents raising grandchildren. The website includes the most recent issue of the Parenting Again newsletter as well as an archive of past issues and information on the new Parenting Again CD for support group facilitators. You can visit the site at: http://urbanext.illinois.edu/grandparents/
