Donna Nuger is the unit educator for youth development for Kankakee County. She collaborates with other Extension personnel in 4-H Youth Development. Programs are delivered through school enrichment, community outreach, afterschool groups and 4-H Community Clubs. In 2008, she was recognized by the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents with the Achievement in Service Award.
Nuger's background includes a B.S. in agriculture in animal science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Arts in teaching from National-Louis University. Professionally, she has taught seventh grade science, math and social studies in both urban and suburban settings. She also taught adults and youth for the YMCA.
Volunteerism has been a major focus for many years. Nuger served on the board of directors for the Girl Scouts of DuPage County Council. She has enjoyed many other volunteer opportunities with Girl Scouts through the years including consultant/organizer, leader trainer, adult recognition and nominating committees. Nuger has been recognized by Girl Scouts with the Honor Pin for outstanding service.
Previously, she served as a school board member, Parent Teacher Organization vice president, Boy Scout assistant cub master and merit badge counselor, religious school teacher and various garden club positions. She volunteered with the People to People Student Ambassador program as a delegation leader.
Nuger enjoys the opportunity to combine her varied educational and volunteer experiences as the unit educator, youth development for Kankakee County.
