Who Gets Grandma's Yellow Pie Plate?

Almost everyone has personal belongings such as wedding pictures, a baseball glove, or a yellow pie plate that have special meaning for them and for other family members. What happens to your personal belongings when you die? Who decides who gets what? How can these decisions be made during your lifetime?
Who gets non-titled personal property is an issue often ignored until a crisis occurs. It is assumed to be unimportant or an issue that just takes care of itself. Experiences of family members and their attorneys suggest otherwise. Research tells us that families are more likely to get into disputes over personal property or family heirlooms than money. The transfer of non-titled property is an issue that impacts individuals regardless of their financial worth or cultural background.
This workshop will discuss factors to consider when family members transfer personal property such as understanding the sensitivity of the issue and learning to manage conflicts as they arise. Families will learn to identify the meaning of special objects and identify some of the different methods of distributing property and possible consequences. Are you concerned your memory isn't as sharp as it once was? Want to do something about it? If so, this program is for you. Now What Was I Saying begins with a description of how memory works and provides information about normal age-related changes versus serious memory problems. The presentation will also address myths about the brain and memory and provide techniques that improve memory and brain health. No fee to attend.

Lesson for Living - Fruits & Vegetables
