Dear Friends of Extension:
Barn Quilts of Kankakee County is now a reality. The Ribbon Cutting event on September 19 was a success with nearly one hundred interested individuals attending.
This county-wide project showcases our rural heritage with ten well preserved farm buildings adorned with a beautifully hand painted classic quilt block. Many hands and months of volunteer time made this possible. Other organizations involved include: Kankakee Quiltmakers, Kankakee County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Kankakee Art Council. We would especially like to recognize Alex Panozzo and Holly Froning for their leadership in coordinating the project.
The Kankakee County Extension website will soon host Barn Quilts of Kankakee County providing a map, addresses and descriptions of each of the barns and quilts, as well as, a photo gallery and much more. Though it is currently under construction, keep checking often for its debut.
We are pleased to provide you with this newsletter of upcoming programs. Program registration forms can be found in each individual program area on the website. We encourage you to participate and bring a friend!
