Residents of Kane County can receive free, one-on-one consultations with University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener volunteers about plant diseases, pest control, lawn care, and flower and vegetable gardening.
University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners are also a valuable source of information about the emerald ash borer. They can help the public differentiate an ash tree from other trees, explain what the insect looks like, its life cycle, and the symptoms of EAB infestation.
During the off-season, October through April, Master Gardener volunteers are available on a part-time basis. You may come to the office and leave a plant or insect sample, or call 630-584-6166 ext. 23 to leave a question, and a Master Gardener will return your call at a later time.
