Committees

  • 4-H Foundation -- Provide support to 4-H through fundraising activities. Time commitment is 2-4 meetings yearly.
  • International Night -- Plan, coordinate and execute International Night event. Time commitment is 2 to 4 meetings yearly and the International Night event (set up, clean up, registration table, MC program).
  • General Projects Committee – Instructor recruitment, setup and clean-up, and organization of Project Day. May also help with the organization of project area workshops/tours. Time commitment is 2 to 4 meetings yearly.
  • Horse Committee -- Plan, coordinate and carry out activities and events related to horse project (i.e. horse bowl, horse judging, judging teams, team tournament, project workshops and horse show). Time commitment is 6 to 7 meetings yearly and the various events and activities.
  • Fair Committee -- Plan and carry out activities as they relate to county fair. Also help establish policies and procedures as they relate to those events. Time commitment is 4 to 6 meetings yearly.
  • Dog Committee -- Organize and coordinate the county dog training and show. Time commitment is 2 to 4 meetings yearly plus dog training (January – May) and the shows.
  • Expansion & Review Committee -- Responsible for expanding and reviewing 4-H and youth development programs in the county. Time commitment is at least 4 meetings yearly.

Special Events or Activities

  • Community Find Out Parties -- Help organize a 4-H information party in your local community. Specifically, finding a location, volunteers to help, and planning activities for attendees. The time commitment for this would be approximately 8 to 10 hours.
  • Project Workshop Leaders -- Plan and conduct a workshop for 4-H members related to a specific project or hobby. Time commitment involves planning and publicizing the workshop and leading the actual workshop. (approximately 4-6 hours)
  • Fair Superintendent -- Help in a specific project area by checking in 4-H'ers and their projects, keeping the judging of that project area running smoothly, set-up of the project area display, and helping with check-out. Time commitment includes set-up, clean-up, orientation before judging, check-in, and check-out (approximately 6 to 8 hours).

Office Help

  • Assemble/Staple 4-H Newsletter -- Needed various times throughout the year. Sometimes it is the last week or first week of the month. Time commitment is approximately 4 to 6 hours.
  • General Office Help -- Might be called upon to help in many different ways. Time commitment will vary for the job or task to be completed.
  • 4-H Booth at the Fair -- Tell the general public about the 4-H program and help with security/safety in the building. Time commitment is two-hour shifts Wednesday through Sunday of the county fair.
