Tips for Youth working with Adults - Working with adults can be a fun and rewarding experience. Many adults really enjoy working with youth. You can encourage a good working relationship by:

* Seeing yourself as an equal committee member

* Don't be afraid to express your ideas. Ask questions. Get involved.

* Assuming responsibility for your project commitments.

* Listening to ideas adults may have regarding your project.

* Asking for advice or help when you need guidance.

* Welcoming the ideas of adults. They have often had great experiences which they can share with you.

Committee Members Needed - Several project committees have very few members. For 4-H to work for the benefit of the young people involved, everyone's help with committees is needed. The time commitment is very seasonal. Busy times are when you plan a workshop and during the 4-H Fair. Committees are:

Þ Beef

Þ Sheep

Þ Rabbit

Þ Poultry

Þ Dog

Þ Cat

Þ Dairy

Þ Swine

Þ Clothing

Þ Visual Arts

Þ General Projects

Þ Foods

Þ Auction Committee

Þ Chicken Scramble

Þ Federation Advisor

Other opportunities are

Þ Ask the leaders of your club how you can help out.

Þ Would you be willing to teach or co-teach a workshop in a certain project area?

Þ Help with short term programs such as fair superintendent, livestock & dairy judging contest, Exchange group, Federation or any other special events.

Þ How about helping with or leading a community service project or Federation fund raiser?

We can provide the training, support and recognition. I cannot give you what you will gain from working with youth. You have a chance to make a difference in our youth. Call for more information. We need you!
