The last day to drop projects is May 1. This is also the last day to add General Projects or Home Ec projects.
Lease and ownership papers -
The practice of leasing animals to show in 4-H is only permitted for horses, ponies and dogs.
All lease and ownership papers and pictures for horses, ponies & dogs must be into the Extension Office by May 1 or you will be unable to show at the 4-H Fair.
Clubs Needed - the State Fair is seeking 4-H clubs of all sizes to help promote 4-H and it's educational programs at the State Fair. Clubs are needed to spend one or more days at the Fair teaching the general public skills they learned through 4-H. Clubs accepted for this opportunity will receive a $100/day premium, providing they meet required presentation criteria. Presentation times are available Friday, August 8 through Sunday, August 17. For an application and more details check with the Extension Office or the 4-H website at: http://www.4-h.uiuc.edu/events/07fair/07ActionPresent.doc. Applications must be submitted through the Extension Office and are due in the State 4-H Office by May 1.
Performance Showcase at State Fair - All 4-H'ers have the opportunity to submit an audition tape to the State 4-H Office to be considered for the Performance Showcase at State Fair. The Showcase is an invitational Variety Show that is held in the Illinois Building.
Act ideas are: dance, theatrical, vocal, instrumental, jazz dance, ballet, clogging, baton, acrobatics, monologues, skits, puppets, magic. They may be individual or group. Individuals must be 10 years old (4-H age). For more information contact the office. Deadline for submission is May 15 to the State Office.
Quality Assurance & Ethics Certification - if you are 10 years old, 4-H age and planning to show at State Fair in livestock, poultry or horses you need to complete the ethics certification if you have not already done so. The website is http://qaec.extension.uiuc.edu/ If you have questions, call the office.
4-H Clover Use - If you use the 4-H Clover, be aware of the clover use rules and that the 4-H Clover is protected by law. Be sure that the only lettering or writing that is on the Clover is the H's that are in the leaves. Anything else, including clipart on the Clover is an illegal use of the Clover. Clover colors are limited to four colors that it can legally be printed in: green, white, black and gold. Any other color or mixture of colors is not legal. Call the Extension Office for more information if you plan to use the Clover for something.
Lamb Camp - May 3, at the Stephenson Co. Fairgrounds in Freeport. 9 am - 3:30 p.m. Registration starts at 8:30. Pre-registration deadline is April 25. Contact the office for a flyer and registration form.
4-H Online Project Support - The State 4-H website has various information on 4-H project including support materials. Visit www.4-h.uiuc.edu/projects/onlineref.html and check to see what's available in your project area. If you do not have access to the internet, contact the Extension Office and we can help you out.
4-H Vet Science Award - Applications must be postmarked no later than July 1, 2008.
The winner will receive a $100 cash award. 4-H members must be currently enrolled in the Veterinary Science project for the 2007-2008 year and must have been enrolled at least 3 years in the project, including the current year. The member may only receive the award once. The 4-H member must be between the ages of 15 and 18 by Sept. 1, 2007. For more information, or an application, contact the Extension Office.
Rocketry Opportunity - The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) has resource materials available for free to 4-H volunteers. Materials include NAR Member Guidebook and two CD's on model rocket building and flying.
