Something new will be offered at the Jasper County Fair on Wednesday for members with General Projects, or if members have something related to their project they would like to offer for sale. But, the items for sale must be related to one of the members projects.
It has been suggested to offer a "General Store" Wednesday, June 24 during Grandparents Day.
The General Store would offer members an opportunity to sell an item related to their 4-H project. Or, perhaps an item which you did not want to show but felt it might be appreciated by someone else.
Those in foods projects could make something for Wednesday, but we do want to emphasize the food items should be fresh.
Not all projects will have a marketable appeal, but there are several visual arts projects, foods, photography and sewing projects could be marketed.
Proceeds from the General Store sales would benefit the 4-H member.
When considering this opportunity, you will also need to consider the appropriate price for item to be sold. You will price your own product.
Beth Nethery will be organizing the General Store and will be available during the General Show to answer any questions which may arise.
Those interested in participating will be asked to sign up to participate at the General Show.
Grandparents Day is something new this year and came about from the meeting earlier this year when parents and leaders met to discuss the upcoming 4-H program fee.
Those present wanted to offer an opportunity for grandparents and their grandchildren to spend time together and offer an opportunity for the kids to show off their projects.
Wednesday, June 24 Grandparents will have the opportunity to have lunch with their grandchildren or any 4-H members they have close ties with.
This day is targeting grandparents, but everyone is welcome to attend. There might be an aunt or uncle or friend who provided guidance with the members 4-H project who would like to share with the member.
Awards will be announced at the conclusion of the General Show and the projects will have the State Fair and Best of Show ribbons exhibited, but we will have formal recognition for these awards at 12:30 p.m. on grandparents day and take photos for the paper Wednesday.
June 24 from 11:30 a.m.—1:00 p.m., 4-H members will have lunch with their grandparents and/or relatives or friends to share their 4-H accomplishments.
A pulled pork lunch will be served for a free will donation from 11:30 a.m.—1:00 p.m. for everyone attending. During this time members will have time to show their guests their projects and share their 4-H experience.
Enclosed is an invitation for members to complete and send to your guests inviting them to this special event. 4-H ambassadors will be assisting with this event to make it special for everyone involved.
Please take some time to invite a guest to this event.
