BBQ Assistance Needed!!

The 4-H BBQ is quickly approaching! There are many things that need to be done before, during and after the event. With the retirement of Don, there are several things that I will need assistance with. There is a lot of planning and organization that goes into this event. That is why, this year I am asking for YOUR help! If you would be willing to help out the night before, please contact the Extension Office! This is a TEAM effort and together this will be a GREAT BBQ!

Dear 4-H Family

The busiest time of the 4-H year is just around the corner. When my sons were in 4-H, summer was when they learned the most and also had the most fun—from building and launching rockets, completing forestry displays, shearing sheep, meeting with the judges to discuss their cookies, attending camp year after year, and hanging out with friends at the fair. Of course behind all those events is a lot of planning and work on behalf of the staff, leaders and parents.

This summer will be different in Cumberland County – Don has retired and a full time county director has not been hired. I will be able to attend some of the activities and help with pre-planning, but at 30% time for both Jasper and Cumberland counties that is a total of 12 hours a week. Not much, when it comes to all the big events.

So, keep in mind that more volunteers will be needed to make all of this happen for the kids. If you have a few free hours, please call and volunteer your services. And, if we call you, please say yes. With all of us working together, the BBQ and fair will happen as usual.

Sharon Kuhns,
Interim County Director
