October 2008
General

Greetings

It is looking like the weather is going to be cooling off, and autumn is officially here. It is time for the farmers to be out and about harvesting this year's crop. Therefore, we need to be aware of them on the roadways. Be patient and allow plenty of room for navigation of your vehicle and for their large equipment. Also, it is important for the famers to practice safety. Farming is one of the most dangerous jobs. That is why it is important to keep safety in mind at all times.

Everyone is invited to the Fall Bash. There is more information inside this issue of the newsletter. Be sure to invite your friends and family to enjoy the afternoon/evening!

New clovers, folders and enrollment forms will be available from your local club leader starting October 16th. Be sure to look through the clover to check out the new projects available this year.

We hope that everyone enjoys the new 4-H year and if you have any great workshop ideas or other programs that we can conduct, please call us. Have a GREAT month and enjoy the fall season!!

4-H Enrollment

A new 4-H year has begun. Your leaders will be receiving their packets in mid October. Therefore after that you should be getting your re-enrollment and project forms. If you are a returning member, it is your responsibility to make sure that the information is correct and sign the form. If you are a new member, you will need to fill out an enrollment form. Everyone is required to fill the project form out. Please fill in the box, do not put a check mark or "x" in the box! This information is important so that we may get you into the database for the new year. This is also important, so that we can get you on the mailing list and to verify that we have the correct address for your residence.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Congratulations, Jodi!

Jodi Koester, member of the Springpoint Rebels and 4-H Federation, has been selected as a part of the Youth Leadership Team of the State of Illinois 4-H. Even in our community there are individuals that suffer from hunger. Most of us do not realize what it is like to be hungry for more than a few minutes. 4-H'ers are always great at stepping up to the plate and help those in need. Let's make this year another success!

2008 Achievement Program

This year the program will be on November 16th at Christ the King Catholic Parish Hall in Greenup beginning at 2:00 p.m. Everyone should plan to attend to help support your fellow 4-H'ers and others that volunteer throughout the year. Hurricane Hustlers and Liberty Hill Rangers are co-hosting this year's events. Come have a good time and support your club on November 16th!
