August 2008

It's Fair Time!

Are you ready for the 2008 Cumberland County Fair? I hope so, because it is right around the corner! I am looking forward to my first fair. And yes, the fair will be at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds! This is your last reminder that 4-H'ers exhibiting livestock will need to complete one of the tan Project Forms for each specie that will be shown. You must also have up-to-date livestock records completed. These will be checked during weigh-in and if not completed, you will be asked to complete one before you are able to weigh-in.

If you are unsure about your project, please refer to your Fairbook and Handbook as a reference. It will have the answers to your questions, and will alleviate you from receiving a lower grade or being in the wrong class. Each project, livestock and non-livestock has specific requirements that must be met.

Please read this newsletter to make sure that you are fully aware of activities and requirements for the fair. If you have any further questions, please call the Extension Office.

Anyone wishing to help, there will be a Community Paint Day held at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds. It will be held on August 2, 2008 beginning at 8:00 a.m. This is a different day other than our 4-H Clean up day!

I am hoping for a successful fair and with all of your help and cooperation I know it will be. The fair is a learning experience for the members involved and that is what 4-H is all about. So always remember to not put too much emphasis on winning and losing. Enjoy yourself!

See you at the fair!!!

Sincerely,

Fairgrounds Clean-Up Round 2

This clean up is scheduled for August 4, 2008 beginning at 5:30 p.m.

We will be painting and setting up pens, preparing the show ring, and anything else that needs completed.

This is very important, so please volunteer.

The appearance of the 4-H areas reflects and represents the entire 4-H program.

Bring shovels, old paint brushes, rakes, weed eaters and anything else you might have.

Attention All Livestock Exhibitors

Don't forget to complete the TAN project form and take it with you to the fair when you weigh and check in.

Also, you should have your livestock records up-to-date at weigh-in.

We will have a designated check-in location to have your records checked.
Blank forms will be provided for those who do not come with them completed.
