September 2005

Hey 4-H'ers

I would like to say Thanks to all, 4-H members, parents, volunteers and any others that may have played a role in the recent Cumberland County 4-H Fair. Everyone's efforts are extremely appreciated. The 2005 4-H year is rapidly reaching its conclusion. 4-H records are due in the Extension office no later than September 9th. Although this year's record reporting process is slightly different than in years past, the procedure is fairly painless and may result in benefits beyond your expectations. Be sure and turn in your 4-H records for evaluation.

4-H FEDERATION ELECTION - CANDIDATES WANTED!

The beginning of a new 4-H year brings forward the time to re-organize your 4-H Federation. The election for new 4-H Federation Officers will be held during the 4-H Fall Bash on Saturday, Sunday, October 2, 2005.

The nominating committee will meet at the September 8th Federation Meeting to determine a slate of candidates. Individuals interested in running for office should attend the September 8th Federation Meeting or contact a current Federation Officer or the Extension Office.

The 4-H Federation is an organization that plans and carries out countywide programs, develops leadership, cooperation and initiative in all 4-H members. Federation supports the development and quality improvement of 4-H club work in Cumberland County. 4-H Federation Meetings are generally held the second Thursday evening of each month.

The input from our 4-H youth into the program planning is very important Federation Officers help plan and implement 4-H programs and events in the county. New ideas and energy are always welcome. Become involved! Junior leaders are urged to consider a position on the 4-H Federation. You can have fun while making a difference in 4-H! Contact the Extension Office or a current Federation Officer if you are interested in participating in the 4-H Federation activities during the 2005-2006 4-H year.

In addition, keep in mind that each 4-H club is responsible for having two voting delegates at each Federation meeting. This ensures a fair representation from each club and each area of the county. Clubs need to send in the names of the two 4-H'ers who will serve as their Federation delegates as soon as they are selected.

Items of interest!

Rakes, extension cords, and digital camera.

These items were leftover from the fair. You should contact Harve Moses to pick up your rake. The extension cords are at the Extension Office. The digital camera was found by Allan Rathe during fair week. If you lost a digital camera, contact us here at the office.
