Youth Cooking School

Youth Cooking Schools are offered throughout the summer sponsored by the Jackson County Family Nutrition Program. Youth will learn the basics of safe food handling, kitchen safety, how to read a recipe and measure ingredients, as well as how to prepare tasty meals, snacks and desserts. This interactive program is perfect for children 8-12.

For the older, more experienced cooks, we offer a Master Cooks School for Youth ages 12-17. This more advanced class is perfect for those who have completed the Youth Cooking School. The Master Cooking School will focus on more advanced cooking techniques and includes information on exercise and how to choose a healthy diet in those crucial teen years.

Week-long cooking schools will be offered in various locations throughout the summer. Please contact the Extension office at 618-687-1727 for more information.
