University of Illinois Extension

Greetings from the President

Russel Higgins

Welcome to IEAA. Our Association is comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds, both in job description and job title. Our current membership includes County Directors, Unit Coordinators, Unit and Center educators in agriculture, horticulture, IPM, CED, natural resources and farm business/farm management.

From the Association's inception in 1920, our overall direction has been clear. Initial goals promote “mutual helpfulness among its members; determination of the standard of excellence of the persons who engage in this work; upholding the teachings of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences…” Opportunities for personal and professional growth continue to be key objectives in 2007.

Today’s Extension puts an emphasis on scholarship. Abundant state and national opportunities exist within our association. Illinois members have an excellent record in presenting programs, entering award winning posters, and receiving communication awards at our Annual National Meeting and Professional Improvement Conferences.

I would encourage you to look at our current membership list and contact a co-worker or myself to learn more about the IEAA. We invite you to visit and be our guest at a district or state event and look forward to your participation on the national level as a member of our organization.
