Minutes - September 2, 2008 6:30 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by Darlene Waier. Members present were Cynthia Drone, John Hodges, Ranelle Hubele, Kay Mayberry, Pam Miller, Charles Nolan and Nancy Winter

Members not present were Mark Becker, Don Duvall, Larry Launius, Lora Marsh, Jerry Seidel, Carl Spicer, Marilyn Vaughan, Debbie Webb and David White.

Extension staff present included Darlene Waier.

There was a motion to accept the minute of the June 24, 2008 meeting with the following correction: Under the seventh bullet #2 should read "No office can be staffed on a regular basis by a volunteer. Because of union rules, the office can only be open on a regular basis if a paid secretary is present. Other staff such as Community Workers and County Director should not fill the role of the secretary. The motion was made by Cynthia Drone and a second by Nancy Winter.

The financial report was provided by Darlene Waier.

Darlene presented a powerpoint presentation "Role of a Council Member".

The following members were nominated for officers:

Chair – Charles Nolan
Vice Chair – John Hodges
Secretary – Ranelle Hubele
Financial Reporter – Mark Becker

A motion was made to close the nominations and approve the slate of officers. Motion passed.

The following members were appointed to serve as financial signatories:

Mark Becker and Pam Miller in Hamilton County
John Hodges and Marilyn Vaughan in Wayne County
Cynthia Drone and Nancy Winter in White County

A motion was made by John Hodges to close the Hamilton, Wayne, White Extension offices from December 24, 2008 – January 2, 2009. Second by Cynthia Drone.

A motion was made to appoint Kay Mayberry, Ranelle Hubele, Charles Nolan and John Hodges to the Extension Board. Motion by Pam Miller and second by Nancy Winter.

John Hodges made a motion to authorize the County Director to pay bills. Second by Cynthia Drone.

Council members agreed to continue providing refreshments for the council meetings. The host county will provide the food.

The 2008 – 2009 Council meetings will be held on September 2, December 2, March 3 and June 2.

Darlene Waier presented her activity report.

Nancy Winter made a motion to adjourn with a second by Cynthia Drone.
