Hamilton – Wayne – White Extension Council
Minutes of November 6, 2007 Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Chair Tena Karcher. Members present were Frank Douglass, Cynthia Drone, Don Duvall, Ranelle Hubele, Tena Karcher, Kay Mayberry, Charles Nolan, Jerry Seidel, Carl Spicer, Dale Troyer, Debbie Webb, and David White.

Members not present were Mark Becker, Angie Brentlinger, Dennis Frey, Lora Marsh, Greg Richardson and Nancy Winter.

Extension staff present were Brandy Campbell, Renate Jobst, Matt Rush and Darlene Waier.

Minutes from the August 2007 Council meeting were approved with a motion from Don Duvall and a second by Frank Douglass. Motion carried.

Financial report was approved with a motion from Jerry Seidel and a second from Charles Nolan. Motion carried.

Darlene Waier provided a powerpoint presentation about staffing in Extension, with focus on HWW staffing.

There was no old business.

New Business

Members discussed setting regular meeting dates. Kay Mayberry made a motion to hold Council meetings on the first Tuesday evening in November, February, May and August beginning at 6:30 p.m.. Don Duvall seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Darlene Waier demonstrated the HWW website and encouraged members to visit the site. HWW unit ranks in the top ten websites in the state based on number of hits.

Darlene Waier informed Council members that every five years each unit goes through a program review and that the HWW review will be held on May 6, 2008.

Renate Jobst reported that she had been working on after school programs in Hamilton County and that she has started a new after school program in Wayne County. She also discussed cuts to be made by the state and informed Council that her position would be eliminated on September 15, 2008.

Brandy Campbell has been busy visiting the area schools presenting family nutrition programs. Brandy currently goes into seven area schools and visits 30 classrooms.

Matt Rush reported that he had attended the Discover Chicago Trip and set up a petting zoo for the Pumpkin Festival.

Darlene Waier reported that she has been busy planning and attending many agriculture programs. She changed the manner in which she secured financial supporters for agriculture programming. The change will bring in additional dollars to the overall budget. Two new agriculture programs are scheduled this winter. The two programs are: Farm Technology Seminar and Golden Age Farming.

A motion was made by Frank Douglass to adjourn. Second by David White. The next meeting is scheduled for February 5, 2008 in White County, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
