Extension helps farmers protect the environment and improve their bottom line by offering educational programs on transgenic crops, risk management, erosion control, management of recyclable nutrients and much more. Extension also helps urban residents through programs on water quality, landscape management, pesticide safety and other helpful homeowner topics.

Agriculture, Natural Resources & IPM

The Annual Hamilton-Wayne-White Extension Grain Outlook Meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 12. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fairfield. At the conclusion of the program, a complimentary pork chop dinner will be provided. Darrel Good, U of I Economist will present information on the 2008 pre-harvest report, which will be released on that day. His presentation will include pre-harvest predictions for corn, soybeans and wheat. Those interested in attending the Outlook Meeting should call the Wayne County Extension Office at 842-3702 to register.
