Leadership Luncheon Series 2010

Seeking Master Gardeners!

Master gardeners are a vital link in getting horticulture knowledge to the public. They provide quick answers to a variety of home gardening questions. We are accepting applications for the 2010 Master Gardener training program. Application deadline is December 1, 2009.

The Mercer County Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for the 2010 program. The academy consists of a series of 10 seminar programs that will enhance community leadership for Mercer County at all levels and provide a vision as well as organizational tools for community leaders.

West Central Leadership is now accepting applications for the 2010 program beginning in January. The focus of West Central Leadership is to recognize leadership potential in individuals and provide programming to enhance their leadership skills; and to recognize current leaders and provide them with programming skills that will further develop their skills.

Deadline to submit applications is December 1, 2009.

Tornados, severe storms, floods, and other natural hazards have caused death, injuries, and millions of dollars in property damage in the last 60 years. Mitigation of natural hazards means reducing the damage and hardship that can result from them.

Your input is needed in the development of a plan to lessen the impact of natural hazard events on residents and communities of Henderson and Mercer Counties. The information gathered from this survey will assist the Steering Committee working on this plan to determine activities that should be implemented to protect lives and property in the event of a natural hazard event. Your experiences and ideas are an important part of this effort.

PSEP (Private Pesticide Educational Program) training and testing sessions have been scheduled. If your license is expiring this year, please make sure you attend one of the sessions listed on the right-hand side of this web page. You may register online or by contacting your local Extension office.
