YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

June

  • 9 - 12th - Camp Clover at Fairgrounds (35 youth)
  • 13th - Taught fitness & nutrition at Morris Library
  • 16 - 19th - Camp Clover at Braceville (15 youth)
  • 21st - Bike rodeo at Morris
  • 24th - Murder Mystery Camp (40 youth participated)
  • 26 - 28th - Taught statewide 4-H Leadership Academy in Champaign
  • 30th - Radio program (6 youth)
  • 30th - 4-H Federation & public speaking practice

July

  • 4th - 4-H dog show at county fair
  • 7th - 4-H public speaking contest
  • 9 - 10th - Taught GPS to AITC teachers
  • 11th - Home school 4-H meeting
  • 11th - Cake decorating contest
  • 14 - 15th - Taught leadership and GPS at Operation Military Kids camp in St. Louis
  • 25th - Carcass show in Chenoa
  • 26 - 28th - 4-H fair; major emphasis on Ag Olympics, superintendent, rocket launch, GPS and robotics
  • 31st - Trip to Yorkville water park with 55 4-H members

August

  • 7th - Project day (14 youth)
  • 9th - State fair Hall of Fame award at Springfield
  • 11th - State fair day for Grundy County
  • 15th - Judged at state fair
  • 17th - Horse show with Silver Spurs
  • 18th - Radio program with alumni & older youth
  • 22nd - Homes Cook Kids 4-H meeting
  • 25th - 4-H federation meeting
  • 27th - Ag breakfast
  • 28th - Military Kids deployment

September

  • 5th - United Way presentation
  • 11th - GPS program at South Wilmington
  • 12th - Home school 4-H meeting
  • 14th - Awards program for Saratoga Ag 4-H Club
  • 15th - Radio program - 4-H federation
  • 16th - Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting
  • 17th - 4-H leaders' meeting
  • 19th & 22nd - Taught Ag in the Classroom (AITC) in Coal City (175 youth)
  • 21st - 4-H kick off event
  • 24 - 26th - Taught forestry unit to 800 5th graders at Goose Lake
  • 27th - Set up for cut meat auction (almost $5,000 raised for federation)
  • 28th - Float for Corn Festival
  • 29 - 30th - Taught conservation to area 5th graders (300 youth)

I would like to thank all of the youth & adults who have helped the Youth Development program thrive during the transition to a new building (I love having a window). A special thanks to Chaley Morris and Janet Wells for helping share the current workload.
