Promoting Health & Safety

Workshops were provided for childcare providers. They were co-sponsored with the West Central Child Care Connection who helped promote the series and provided continuing education credit.

The Teen Health Classes and Teen Leadership Conference provided students with the motivation and resources to improve their decision-making skills regarding teen sexuality, substance /drug abuse, AIDS, and other issues facing teens.

Information was provided on BodySmart Gardening and MyPyramid at Greene County Health Fair. Farm Safety was promoted at Kids' Healthy Fun Fair. and 4-H informational marketing bags were provided to the Classic Iron Club for Student Safety Day held during Greene County Days.

The Diabetes Life Lines newsletter provided the medical perspective, exercise as a part of life, and medication updates to people with diabetes and those who care for them.

The office continued to participates in the Family Nutrition Program (FNP) which provides nutrition & food safety information to food stamp eligible people. A federal grant and in-kind contributions from tax supported agencies provided for a coordinator and program support.
