Our Agriculture & Natural Resources program thrived to meet the needs of agricultural producers, agribusiness people, landowners, gardeners, and others using our natural resources.
Activities varied and included Agronomy Day '08, Beef Performance Testing, Introduction to Forest Management, Farm Safety, Pond Construction and Management , Careers in Agriculture, Pesticide Safety Education Program, Farm Conservation Programs, Greene County Acres newsletter, and more.
The program reached both adults and youth with various livestock activities for youth including 4-H projects including beef, swine, sheep, goats, and others, Livestock Shows, Livestock Auction, and Rate-of-Gain Contests.
Information and assistance on agriculture and natural resources were provided by Extension Educators, Master Gardeners, Distance Diagnostics through Digital Imaging System (DDDI), and office resources to 158 individual citizens.
Greene County's five University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners have helped improve the horticulture program by answering questions from local gardeners, writing articles for The Greene Thumb newsletter, judging at the 4-H Horticulture Show, and helping plan the horticulture program.
