Inspiring Youth

It was an exciting year in 4-H in Greene County. There were 164 members including 24 Cloverbuds (4-H for 5 to 7 year olds) in 7 community and special interest clubs. Membership was 13.4% higher than the previous year. Over 1,000 additional youth were reached through short-term groups including in-school food & nutrition groups, Teen Health Classes, Teen Leadership Conference, and others.

Many educational activities were held for youth. There were project workshops, 4-H Shows, 4-H Camp, Great Outdoor Camps, Teen Leadership Conference, Teen Health Classes, and much more.

4-H was marketed through National 4-H Week activities and featured on the office's website with information and links to other 4-H sites.

Once again the opportunity was provided to 4-H members to exhibit their projects at the 4-H Fair in livestock, horses, dogs, rabbits, poultry, cats and small animals, to name a few. They earned ribbons, premiums, trophies, and U.S. Savings Bonds. Some were selected to exhibit at the Illinois State Fair. Where three earned Superior ratings for being the best of the best.

4-H members helped the community with Relay for Life's Dinner, the Salvation Army's Holiday Fundraiser, and Greene County Fairgrounds' clean-up.
