One of our primary audiences this past year were local childcare providers. Three workshops were provided for them including Obese Kids: They Are What They Eat, How to Turn Good Play into GREAT Play; and Your #1 Priority: Keeping Children Healthy and Safe. More are planned for this year.
The participants rated them very high in several categories including it was new information, it was relevant, and they will use now and/or in the future.
The series was co-sponsored with the West Central Child Care Connection who helped promote the series and provided continuing education credit.
The office also provided information on Meth, AgriAbility, and MyPyramid, at the Greene County Health Fair. Farm Safety was promoted at the Kids' Healthy Fun Fair. Information and 4-H marketing bags were provided to the Classic Iron Club for the Student Safety Day held during Greene County Days.
The Diabetes Life Lines newsletter provided the medical perspective, exercise as a part of life, medication update, and more to people with diabetes and those who care for them.
Our office also participates in the Family Nutrition Program (FNP). This program provided nutrition and food safety information to food stamp recipients.
A federal grant and in-kind contributions from tax supported agencies provided for a coordinator and program support.
